The
C.O.V.E.R. Awards Dinner.
The
2005 C.O.V.E.R. Awards Dinner attracted nearly 180 people from our
business community. The
evening began with a social hour followed by a delicious dinner. The
Rev. Scott Miller, Youth Minister from Milford United Methodist
Church gave the Invocation.
Chris Smith, Governor Taft’s Regional Representative for
Economic Development was the guest speaker.
Following
the speaker, President Jean Ackermann began with thanking all that
attended. Including
corporate sponsors, CenterBank, Control Works, KeyBank, Lehr’s
Market, MarkAndy, Inc., dignitaries
from the state, county, township, city and schools and also table
sponsors.
She
then moved on to announcing the candidates for Small Business of
the Year. These
included: Donovan Donohoo Jr. & Associates, Early Antiques &
Auctioneer, Milford Skyline Chili, and Roberts Engineering, Inc.
The winner was Milford Skyline Chili.
Ruth Stevens, owner and Keith Burkhardt, manager were both
present to accept the award.
Next
were the nominations for Large Business of the Year.
They were: Cincinnati United Contractors, LTD Landscaping,
Meijer Store #157, Milford Kroger #411, and Toebben, LTD.
The winner was: Milford Kroger #411.
Accepting the award was Eric Deel, Store Manager.
The 2005
Volunteer/Service Person nominations were next.
They included: Donna Amos, Johnny Vilardo, Milford Community
Firefighters Club, Nancy Meyer and Terri Clifton.
The winner was: Johnny Vilardo.
The
final award of the evening was the Humanitarian Award.
The nominees were: Chief John Cooper and Mercedes
“Metchy” Hance. Chief
Cooper was the winner for 2005.
All
winners received plaques and letters of congratulations from state,
township and city representatives.
The
2005 C.O.V.E.R. Dinner Awards Committee consisted of Victoria
Schafer, Chairperson, Brooke & Schafer LLC, Donna
Amman, Promont Museum, Connie Bishop, Kitchen Cuisine, Cristina
Egbert, Milford Dental Excellence, Jon Frye, Milford Community
Firefighters Club, Karen Huff, Milford Miami Township Chamber of
Commerce, Vicki Rankin, Kamphaus, Henning & Hood CPAs and Gail
Wilson, Fifth Third Bank. Applause
to all for a great job.
The
evening was enjoyed by all and the Chamber looks forward to next
year’s dinner.
